Gnomes and hobgoblins inspire Gonks, often found in Nordic and Scandinavian mythology. They are short, rotund and are often red, gold, green or white. They have sweet button noses and a round face, which is normally obscured by a long, bushy beard and a pointed Christmas hat. They are usually dressed in knitted winter clothes, mittens and woolly striped socks. In folklore, gonks often hide in houses or barns.
